The flickering of candle flames is said to have a '1/f fluctuation' effect. It is a state in which regular and irregular flickers are in perfect harmony, and is said to calm people's minds and give them a sense of comfort when they see or hear it. (Apart from the flickering of a candle flame, other typical examples include the interval between human heartbeats, the sound of waves, a babbling brook, sunlight filtering through the trees and the grain of wood.)

Handmade candle workshop

Each class uses different materials, and the content is designed to enjoy the various textures that candles can have. Come and experience the broad appeal of candles! (You can participate in only one session.)

1 Soy Fragrance Candle / Candle in a glass made of soy-derived soy wax

2 Gradation candles / Candles in two different colours of paraffin wax

3 Gel ore candles / ore-like candles with a pulled texture using gel wax

4 Powder three-colour candles / Bottled candles using silky powder wax

Candle workshop Course of 4 sessions,  1 Thursday a month / Time 19:00~20:30 (90 min) Dates and times 4 sessions (9/7, 10/5, 11/2, 11/30) / 19:00-20:30 (90-120 mins), time may vary slightly depending on the session. ito-nami candle KYOTO Ai Hasegawa Born and raised in Kyoto. After working as a buyer of vintage clothes and accessories for about five years and as a product planner for ladies' apparel for about 18 years, she discovered the world of candle art in 2022. In December 2022, she completed the TOKYO CANDLE -orange label- Candle Professional Course and obtained a diploma, and in February 2023, she started her activities as a candle artist and lecturer under the trade name of ito-nami candle, KYOTO.
